Book cart drill team ready to roll!
Abington Library staff’s new marching unit will make its debut at Glenside’s 100th annual Fourth of July parade.
Pushing decorated book carts, the marchers will maneuver through a variety of patterns – hoping to give the Harley Davidson motorcycle squad a run for their money!
The parade – one of the nation’s oldest – kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday, July 4, from VFW Post 667 on Jenkintown Road, at Roslyn Avenue. The route continues on Jenkintown Road, heads south on Easton Road, then east on Waverly Road to Renninger Recreation Area. The reviewing stand is in front of St. Luke’s Church on Easton Road at Fairhill Avenue. |

Kicking up our heels!

Avoiding raindrops by practicing inside

About a dozen library staffers, from the main library and its Roslyn branch, have been practicing since May in the Abington Library parking lot and surrounding streets.
While they won’t go so far as to call themselves a “precision” drill team, the marchers are working on their repertoire of moves, from weaves to circles to peel-offs, to the crowd-pleasing “Hokey Pokey.”
Parade rain date is Saturday, July 5. |
