APRIL IS NATIONAL
POETRY MONTH

Poetry & You:
You Can Be a Poet, Too!

A Two-Part Poetry Workshop
for Ages 8-11,
April 11 & 25, 2002, 7-8 p.m.

SESSION I - APRIL 11

Want to learn how to write poetry?

"Poetry lover extraordinaire"
Carol Kleinbrahm
read different types of poems,
then showed the participants how to make a poetry journal.

They then looked at poetry books from the Abington Free Library children's collection, and chose one to enjoy at home.

SESSION II - APRIL 25

The young poets brought a friend or loved one to listen to their poems at our

"Poetry Open Mike Night."

They chose between reading from their own poetry journal, or brought one or two favorite poems to share.

All participants received a special reward to celebrate becoming a POET.

(poem from the Poetry Workshop Certificates)

You are a poet.
Just look at what you can do.
You help others see the world
. . . . from your own point of view.
You share how you think
. . . . and feel,
You make imaginary things
. . . . seem real.
You're amazing.
You're a POET.
Congratulations!
