Glenside's 4th of July Parade 2004
The Abington Library Book Cart Drill Team, who wowed the crowd last year at Glenside's Fourth of July parade, is ready to roll again.
Pushing decorated library book carts, the marchers maneuver through a variety of patterns, giving the Harley Davidson motorcycle squad a run for its money!
Glenside's 101st annual parade -- one of the nation's oldest -- kicks off at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 4, from VFW Post 667 on Jenkintown Road, at Roslyn Avenue.
The route continues on Jenkintown Road, heads south on Easton Road, then east on Waverly Road, ending at the Renninger Recreation Area.

About a dozen library staffers, from the main library and its Roslyn branch, have been practicing since May in the Abington Library parking lot and surrounding streets. While they won't go so far as to call themselves a "precision" drill team, the marchers have a growing repertoire of moves, from weaves to circles to pinwheels to the crowd-pleasing "Hokey Pokey."
Parade rain date is Monday, July 5. |
