Geotechnical (Soils) engineering is the study of the properties of soils to design stable and economic foundations for structures such as buildings, bridges, roads, dams, tunnels and landfills.
Water Resources includes all water resources related science and engineering areas. Topics range from the basic hydrologic sciences to the design and development of water related systems, structures, projects, and devices.
Rock Engineering is the use of engineering principles to design safe manmade structures in and around rock. Examples include tunnels, roadways, dams, mining, blasting, earthquakes and landslide resistance structures. Rock engineering is also involved in the recovery of resources for energy, such as coal, petroleum, natural gas, uranium and geothermal energy. |
