World War II Lecture Series
every 3rd Tuesday at 3 & 7 p.m.

2008 Events

April 15 - The Story of the 1944 Rangoon Disaster
Karnig Thomasian will share his memories of air combat and imprisonment.  You can read more about Karnig in his book “Then There Were Six” And also in Aaron Elson’s books available on www.TankBooks.com

May 20 - We went to England, book by…
Elaine Good will share her memories of growing up in London during the Second World War.

June 17 -  Iwo Jima with the 4th Marine Division
John Lindenmuth will share his memories of the fighting on Iwo Jima and the combat wounds he received.

July 15 - Navy Pilot aboard the USS Mission Bay
Robert Pafaro will share his memories of being a Navy fighter pilot aboard the USS Mission Bay in WWII.

August 19 – 5th Cavalry Division in Vietnam 1970-1971
LTC Hugh F. Foster III, U.S. Army, son of former speaker, the late Major General Hugh F. Foster Jr. will share his memories of Vietnam and his WWII research, as well his son becoming wounded during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

September 16 -  The Career of a Marine, 1942-1968
COL Ernest Brydon, U.S. Marine Corps, will share his memories of trying to enlist in the Marine Corps, fighting with the 3 rd Marine Division in the Pacific, fighting with the 1st Marine Division in Korea, Serving as a U.N. Observer during the 1967 Arab/Israeli War and jumping with 26 foreign nations.

Please note that we are not only looking for WWII Veterans, but also for veterans and survivors who lived and served during any armed conflicts to share their memories and experiences with our audience.


Reservations

Please request either the afternoon or evening lecture and provide names, email addresses/telephone numbers for all reservation requests.

Those without reservations will be admitted as space permits. Space is limited to 100 people at each lecture, but generally we have space available for both lectures.

Walk-ins are welcome!


Social Hour

Bring a WWII artifact to display for the evening. Light refreshments a half-hour before each program. No food or drink allowed outside the Community Room.
